‘Could you please read chapters 24 and 25 of the New Testament book of Matthew several times before I come’ – that is nearly 100 verses in all.
It was Roger, our mentor from Ipswich, asking this of the church, so we complied – but what would he be talking about when he came? In the event he recalled the story Jesus told of 10 bridesmaids waiting for the bridegroom to come…this could be at almost any hour in Middle Eastern weddings. When he came five bridesmaids had enough oil in their lamps to continue the festivities into the night ahead, but five did not. So, the question is: are we ready? Ready to relate to Jesus when He comes again. Ready to help those in need; is there anyone I need to apologize to, or befriend before He comes . A challenging message Roger.
Later the leadership team met with Roger, firstly over lunch at The Exchange and later at Michael and June’s home thinking of Jesus’ compassion and ways in which we can be the same to everyone we know..
